The Alchemists' Workshop

Alchemists' Workshop is a non-profit theatre company headquartered in Henniker, N.H.

Our purpose is to serve communities by doing arts programs that both educate and entertain.

We have a variety of programs to help us achieve our mission. These include:

•Weare/Henniker Youth Theatre (camps, residencies, scholarship dances and workshops)

•New Hampshire Young Playwrights’ Workshop (to identify and encourage young playwrights)

•Co-producing with a variety of companies (In 2015 we did our original work, The Children of MLK, with the 5th graders at New London Elementary and all of the students in Sutton).  In April of 2016 we did Will Ogmundson's original musical, The Lending Doll, with the Hopkinton Public Library. 2017 is going to see us filming a play with the Congregational Church of Henniker about Tom Brown--19th century resident and leader of deaf education in America.

•Commissioning dramatists as they bring new works to the stage (Currently we are working with Will Ogmundson developing a new musical about Willa Cather in NH, Tom Dunn on a play about education in North Dakota and Pat Picciano doing puppets for The Clown of God.)

•A Community Film Project that includes learning about film making as by producing short films (we are working now on a film about KICKING BUTTS an anti-smoking project in Weare)

•Social service projects including our street theatre featuring 10 foot tall puppets, KICK BUTTS and our pre-school project--Food, The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.

•Touring in 2017: Lessons, Robert Gardner's jazz musical abut inter-generational conflicts

Las Posadas, Will Ogmundson's adaptation of Tomie dePaola's holiday classic

Georgia O'Keeffe Paints Paradise, Will Ogmundson's musical hit from 2016

(And coming up in 2017 Amy Beach's 150th Birthday Festival with some 20 companies.)
